One thing I always make sure I do when I review a beer is to research the brewery that the beer is from, because if they’ve got to all the effort to bring us a beer, then I feel obligated to find out a little bit about the company that brews it. So, when I looked up Evil Twin Brewing, I discovered that they were a “gypsy brewery”, which is a brewery that doesn’t have their own premises or equipment and will generally operate out of other breweries on a temporary basis. It’s something I didn’t know existed, but I can imagine makes for some great brewery collaborations.

In this instance, Evil Twin originated in Denmark, but this beer, Wet Dream (I’m resisting any obvious dirty jokes, you can add your own here) was brewed at Westbrook Brewing Co. in South Carolina, and it really is wonderful, providing you like coffee. Which, fortunately, I do! The coffee is everywhere with this beer from the colour, through to the aroma which has overwhelming notes of strong, fresh filter coffee, along with dark chocolate, and these following through with the flavour which has the bitterness of coffee, but also a slight sweetness of sugar, milk and hops. It’s also very smooth, light and wonderful to drink.

If you’re looking for a great beer with the flavour of coffee that other beers promise but let youu down on, then you should definitely go ahead and have yourself a Wet Dream.

Okay, maybe I made one dirty joke.

Summary

A lovely beer with huge notes of coffee but with a smooth and light finish that makes it easy to drink.
